Joyce C. Steppig, 89, of Columbia, Ill., born May 17, 1927, in Columbia, Ill., passed away peacefully on June 14, 2016.
Mr. Steppig had been employed with the family business, Steppig Distributing, a local beer, fuel and ice distributing company and had retired from Monsanto Chemical Co., in Sauget, Ill. He attended St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, Ill., was a member of American Legion Post 581 in Columbia, Ill., and the Waterloo Country Club. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of WW II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ella, nee Schiemer, Steppig; brothers, Jacob "Jack" Steppig, and Edgar Steppig, Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Harold (Helen) Diehl, and Albert (Edna Mae) Diehl.
Surviving are his wife, Delores D., nee Diehl, Steppig, whom he married on Sept. 25, 1948, at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, Ill.; sons, Bruce (Peggy) Steppig of Platte City, Mo., and Brian (Robyn) Steppig of Alexander, Ark.; grandchildren, Chase Steppig, Talyn (Joseph) Guercio, Christopher (Ashley) Steppig, and Ashley (Travis) Lawhon; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Grace Guercio, and Emma and Wyatt Lawhon; and sister-in-law, Nadine (Don) Gericke of Smithton, Ill.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016, at church, with Pastor Bob Goddard officiating. Private interment will take place in Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery, Columbia, Ill.
