Judith D. Thomas, 77, of Granite City, Ill., went to be with her Lord and Savior at 3:18 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at her home. It was her sincere desire to "...say good-bye here, close my eyes, then open my eyes and say good-morning there," which is exactly what occurred.
Judi was born January 24, 1939 in Denver, Colo., the daughter of the late Ernest Thomas and Violet "Ruth" (Reeves) Burkett. She was retired from the United States Army after 30 highly successful years of Civil Service in Aviation Logistics. She became an ordained minister at an early age and serving God was her gift and her life calling. She enjoyed her final 20 years of dedicated and faithful ministry as a member of New Life Assembly of God Church in Granite City, where she loved teaching Bible class, leading the congregation into God's presence on the Worship Team, playing guitar, composing music, and leading others to The Lord.
One of Judi's greatest joys could be found in the family's trio group "Expressions of Praise," making melody with Ron and Tammy unto The Lord.
She also enjoyed singing with The Master's Voice Choir from the group's inception 20 years ago, and was a member of Toastmasters.
Judi will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving family, Tammy and Ron Stegelmeyer of Granite City, Ethel "Skeet" Ramsey of Granite City; two brothers, Lee Thomas and Robert Burkett; and other extended family and many cherished friends.
Though Jud'ss earthly work is done, may her legacy of love and lifelong faithfulness to Jesus Christ live on in the hearts and lives of those she touched.
"She hath done what she could; this that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her."
- Mark 14:8-9
