Kathleen Ellen Milton, 67, of Troy, Ill., formerly of Collinsville, Ill., born July 25, 1946, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away at 8:49 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mrs. Milton was the oldest daughter in her family. She had worked for Gem Rexall Pharmacy in Collinsville and Schwartz Pharmacy in Edwardsville with many years of dedicated service. Her life was devoted to service and helping others. She attended St. John Evangelical United Church of Christ in Collinsville, United Methodist Church of Troy and the Glenview Church of the Nazarene, where she enjoyed being active with different groups and volunteering for outreach to others. She loved being a fabulous member of the Red Hat Ladies, serving the public as an election clerk and bringing joy to her life helping throughout the area at many soup kitchens. She was a graduate of Collinsville High School Class of 1964 and was active with her reunion committee. She will be remembered for the love and special times she shared with her family and friends. She was devoted to her family history and geneology and was their to bring the family together through the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynwood R. Milton, whom she married on Aug. 3, 1985, in Glen Carbon, Ill., and who died Oct. 28, 2009; her father, Leonard Detto; and two brothers, Michael and Mark Long.
Surviving are her son, Howard Beard II (Helen Stephens) of Edwardsville; two daughters, Mary Beard (Edward Osman) of Glen Carbon and Deana Milton-Gregory of San Diego; grandchildren, Tabatha Beard (Brandon Knott), Ashley Beard (John Vasques), Howard Beard III, Brett Beard, Amber (Jacob) Arnold, Adam Osman, Trey Gregory, Drake Gregory and Emmie Gregory; great-grandchildren, Peyton Knott, Emilia Vasques and Isabella Arnold; her mother, Mary Ellen, nee Hambly, Lacey of St. Jacob; six sisters, Karen Schuessler of St. Jacob, Kayann Ingram of Highland, Kristine Clayton of St. Jacob, Kim Redd of Alton, Karol Rees of Nashville and Kolleen "DeDe" Clark (Don Kosydor) of Troy; a brother, James (Margarita) Long of Alton; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, Ill., and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at St. John Evangelical United Church of Christ, 307 West Clay St., Collinsville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at St. John Evangelical United Church of Christ with Rev. Tony Minear and Rev. Rick Unger officiating. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.
