Kay Quante, 81, of Granite City, Ill., born on Sept. 25, 1931, in Granite City, Ill., passed away on Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at her home.
On April 4, 1964, Kay Reinhardt was married to Horst Quante, the love of her life at St. John United Church of Christ, Granite City, Ill. Kay was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Granite City, Ill., and the Quilters Club at the church. She had retired from Magna Bank, Granite City, Ill., as a teller. Kay enjoyed quilting, playing Chinese checkers and was an avid walker. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and taking care of her daughters and grandchildren. Kay will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Hazel, nee Carter, Reinhardt; and sister, Joyce Smith.
Surviving Kay are her loving husband, Horst Quante; two wonderful daughters, Maria (Joe) Smith of Troy, Ill., and Carolyn Hammann of Florissant, Mo.; two dear grandchildren, Nicholas Smith and Rachael Hammann; and many dear friends and extended family.
Memorials may be given to BJC Hospice or St. John United Church of Christ and will be accepted at the church.
Visitation: Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at St. John United Church of Christ, 2901 Nameoki Road, Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: In celebration of her life, a memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at St. John United Church of Christ with the Rev. Karla Frost officiating. Inurnment will be in St. John Cemetery, Maryville Road, Granite City, Ill.
