Two teenage sisters from Collinsville were identified today as the victims in a fatal crash on Interstate 64 Friday.

Jessica Elaine Uhl, 18, and her sister, Kelli Christine Uhl, 13, died after an Illinois State Police trooper -- cut off by another motorist while en route to an earlier accident -- crossed the I-64 median and slammed into the Uhls' car near Scott Air Force Base.

Both Uhls were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which injured three other people involved in the accident, according to the Illinois State Police.

Autopsies were performed on both Uhls, who lived with their mother, Kimberly Dorsey, at their Collinsville home, said Bob Shay, the St. Clair County chief deputy coroner.

Trooper Matt Mitchell, 29, was airlifted to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where he was hospitalized for serious but non-life threatening injuries. By this afternoon, Mitchell's condition had been upgraded to good, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
