Kent J. Meyer, 59, of Belleville, Ill., born Sept. 17, 1945, in Belleville, Ill., died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at his residence.
Mr. Meyer was a captain for St. Clair County Sheriff Dept. Auxiliary where he served on the department for more than 15 years, a former police officer with the Village of Shiloh, Ill., for 26 years, including 10 years as chief of police; member of Illinois Police Association and Illinois Police Chief Association. He was the former owner/operator of Al's Machine Shop, Belleville, Ill. and worked in security at the Belle Clair Fairgrounds. He was a life member of National Rifle Association; Honorary Knife-Makers Guild, St. Clair Lodge 24; Ainad Shrine; Tanered Commandery 50; Scottish Rite Bodies of Southern Illinois; and Probst Guard. He was a member of Gear Jammers of Belleville and an avid Harley Rider and life member of H.O.G. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era; a World War II historical reinactor and a member of 1SSLAH Group. Mr. Meyer was the owner/operator of K J Saloon, Belleville, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lavergne, nee Diller, Meyer.
He is survived by an aunt,
cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral: A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2005, at Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
