Pastor Larry D. Cook, 56, of Granite City, Ill., born June 17, 1959, in Granite City passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016, at his home.
Larry was the lead pastor at Freedom Worship Center in Granite City. He dedicated his life to serving the Lord and helping people. He was on the board of the St. Louis Wheel Chair Athletic Association and Boots on the Green for former military handicap veterans. He was a well known golfer who loved the game and played at every opportunity. Most of all he loved the Lord and his family. Larry will be remembered for his service to others and all the special times he shared with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Lawrence Eugene Cook.
He is survived by and will be missed by his wife, Mary Elaine, nee White, Cook, whom he married on June 7, 1980; his mother, Joyce (Allison) Cook of Granite City; his sons, Derek and (Jessica) Cook of Farmington, Mo., and Caleb and (Breanna) Cook of Harrison, Ark.; his daughter, Lacey and (Aaron) Shaeffer of Granite City; his grandchildren, Cayden Cook of Harrison, Ark., and Harper Cook of Farmington, Mo.; brothers, Jerry Cook, Gary Cook, Carey Cook, and Michael Cook; his sister, Terry Luebbers; and many nieces, nephews and many other extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Freedom Worship Center. Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City is serving the family.
Visitation: In celebration of Larry's life, friends may visit from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Freedom Worship Center, 3633 State Route 162 in Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2016, at Freedom Worship Center with Pastor Dwight Jones and Pastor Gary Cook officiating.
