Larry G. Smothers, 77, of Granite City, Ill., born Dec. 16, 1938, in St. Louis, Mo., passed away Friday, May 20, 2016, at Memorial Hospital East, Shiloh, Ill.
Larry was a welder for over
30 years at Granite City Steel retiring in 1985. Larry was an Artist who enjoyed painting and dancing. He will be remembered for his kind heart and all the special times he shared with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn, nee Nowicki, Smothers; his son-in-law, Ben Schutzenhofer; his parents, Roy and Beulah, nee Garland, Smothers; and his sisters, Catherine, Virginia and Billie.
He is survived by and will be missed by his daughters, Kimberly Schutzenhofer of O'Fallon, Ill., and Tracy Thompson of Carlinville, Ill.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Service: In celebration of his life, private graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2016, at Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo., with Pastor Charles West officiating.
