Larry L. Whitehead, 74, of Maryville, Ill., born Nov. 29, 1941, in Oklahoma City, Okla., passed away at 3:59 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.
Larry was retired after 33 years as an information systems specialist. At the time of retirement he was working at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. He was a former member of the Harrisonville, Mo., Optimist Club; had coached his three sons in baseball and football for over 30 years; and having grown up in Oklahoma, he was a loyal Oklahoma Sooners fan. He loved being with his family and adored his grandchildren, having attended most all of their sports or special events.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Lester and Hazel, nee Beene, Whitehead Jr.; a sister, Cheri L. Whitehead; and a brother, Danny C. Whitehead.
Surviving are his wife, Patty Ruth, nee DeMeritt, Whitehead, whom he married Jan. 7, 1961; three sons, Danny (Young) Whitehead of Collinsville, Ill., Steve Whitehead of Maryville, Ill., and Craig (Kristin) Whitehead of Collinsville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Mark, Bryce, Logan, and Lucie.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral service will be at noon Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Nadelin officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Glen Carbon, Ill.
