Lawrence E. Elam, 78, formerly of Collinsville, Ill., and Troy, Ill., born Oct. 17, 1938 in Vandalia, Ill., passed away at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at Meridian Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Lawrence was a retired pipefitter and welder for Ameren. He was a member of Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville, Ill., and was a U.S. Army and Air Force veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edmund L. and Vonna, nee Neathery, Elam; and his wife, Linda Marlene, nee Dothager, Elam, whom he married Oct. 16, 1965.
Surviving are two daughters, Michelle (Ken) Noll of Edwardsville, Ill., and Paula (Joey) Brewer of Troy, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Jordyn, Devon, and Lauryn Barr, Bayne, Gabriel, Jadyn, and Reece Noll; a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Barr; and a sister, Edith Elmore of Vandalia, Ill.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016 at Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, with Rev. Roger Wright officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Liberty Cemetery in Mulberry Grove, Ill.
