Lorayne E. Mills Obituary
Lorayne Mills

Lorayne Elizabeth Marie Mills, 95, born Feb. 23, 1921, in Granite City, Ill., passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016, in Granite City, Ill., where she lived her entire life.

She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Growing up during the depression and raising seven children taught her that there was more to life than what money could buy. What little she did have she graciously shared equally with all. Her faith, inner toughness, strength of character, humility, and love were her best qualities, and a constant inspiration to all those who knew her. She worked at Seibold's bakery, and St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Granite City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Sam Mills, whom she married on Feb. 7, 1941; three children, Paul Larry, Henry Gary, and Janet Marie; her parents, Henry and Elizabeth Gabriel; and two brothers, Paul and Henry Gabriel.

Surviving are six children, David (Fran) Mills, Paul (Joyce) Mills, Mary Lou (Gary) Shaffer, Susan Shisko, John (Jane) Mills, and Patricia (Damon) Kopsky; her grandchildren, Maria Halloran, Rob Shaffer, Christine Lombardi, David Mills, Douglas Mills, John Mills, Julie Goin, Laurel Pasch, Laura Lebryk; and 18 great-grandchildren.

For those who wish to make a donation, Mass cards are available at Irwin Chapel, or memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth's Church, Granite City, Ill.
