Mable Marie Farrington, 101, born Feb. 8, 1915 in Harrisburg, Ill., died at 8:42 a.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Mable was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville. She was a volunteer at the Edwardsville Main Street Community Center for 30 years and at Anderson Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Farrington, whom she married on Jan. 21, 1940 in Harrisburg, and who died in 1986; her parents, Edward and Eleanor, nee Scott, Wright; two sisters; and three brothers.
Surviving are a son, Dale Farrington and wife, Bonnie of Collinsville; a daughter, Donna Nelson and husband, Harold of Edwardsville; four grandchildren, Alan Mallory and wife, Judy of Gilbert, Ariz., Deanne Jackson and husband, Jim of Rolla, Mo., Jane Farrington and husband, Joshua Jenkins of Troy, Ill., and Linda Farrington of Wauconda, Ill.; and six great-grandchildren, Paige and Hayley Mallory, Austin and Bradley Lohr, Saxton and Celeste Jenkins.
The family requests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church or the Main Street Community Center.
Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church, 237 N. Kansas St., in Edwardsville, Ill., with Rev. Dr. John Hembruch officiating. A private interment will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Glen Carbon, Ill.
