Marcellus H. "Marce" Fehlker, 87, of Belleville, Ill., born Aug. 6, 1928, in Damiansville, Ill., died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in Belleville, Ill.

Marcellus retired from the City of Belleville on January 31, 1992, as the city's maintenance manager. His 40 plus years at the city included police patrolman, police dispatcher and his time as maintenance manager.

He was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Belleville, Ill., as well as a member of their Men's Club and the Young at Heart. He was a life time member of the Belleville/Swansea Moose Lodge 1221, the Catholic War Veterans and the American Legion Post in Smithton, Ill. He enjoyed playing euchre, watching the St. Louis Cardinals games, building and repairing anything, morning coffee at Denny's and the Bread Co., most of all the many years he spent at the clubhouse at Centralia Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lambert and Emma, nee Fuehne, Fehlker; sisters, Nellie (Bob) Richter and Marilyn Siddle; and a brother, Jerry (Harriet) Fehlker.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Verdell M., nee Schaefer, Fehlker; son, Steve (JoAnn) Fehlker; daughters, Nancy Fehlker, Pat Fehlker and Debbie Fehlker; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael Downing and Ariel Mazur; sister, Louise (George) Rathmann as well as many dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many dear nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill. A Moose Lodge service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Friday, followed by a Catholic War Veterans service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Visitation at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016.

Funeral: Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
