Margaret "Margie" Mensen, 61, of Belleville, Ill., born Feb. 15, 1955, in Breese, Ill., passed away Monday, June 6, 2016, at home.

Margie was a social worker for the Belleville Diocese. She was very proud of her job and held the titles of Administrator of the Review Board for the Belleville Diocese and Director of Counseling for Catholic Social Services. She was a woman of faith, who lived for her sons, daughters-in-law and granddaughters. She enjoyed politics and reading, and was a member of the Cathedral St. Peter in Belleville, Ill.

Mrs. Mensen was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and LaGarda, nee Fauke, Holtgrave. She married Richard "Rick" Mensen Oct. 12, 1973, in Beckemeyer, Ill., and they were blessed with 40 years of deep love, loyalty and unfailing devotion before his death on June 29, 2013. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter "Wally" Holtgrave; father-in-law Richard Mensen; and brother-in-law - Mike Mensen.

Surviving are two sons, Richard W. (Mindy) Mensen of Shawano, Wis., and Erik E. (Amanda) Mensen of Belleville, Ill.; two granddaughters, Lyric Mensen and Morgan Mensen; her siblings Steve (Missy) Holtgrave of Carlyle, Ill., Louise (Pete) Cerneka of Lebanon, Ill., Richard "Rich" (Kris) Holtgrave of Carlyle, Ill., and Julius "Jule" (Tina) Holtgrave of St. Rose, Ill.; mother-in-law, Norma Jane Mensen of Salem, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Robert (Beth) Mensen of Salem, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Judy Mensen of Aviston, Ill.

Visitation: Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle, Ill.

Funeral: A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at St. Anthony's Church, Beckemeyer, Ill., with Father James Daugherty and Father George Mauck, officiating.
