Marjorie Elliott

Marjorie Louise "Margie," nee Smith, Elliott, 74, of Belleville, Ill., born Dec. 10, 1941, in Oxford, N.C., died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, in Lebanon, Ill., surrounded by her family.

With grace, Margie was a blessing to many. As a teacher for decades, Margie touched many young lives. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Belleville, Ill., where she served as an elder and was past president of trustees. She sang in the choir, played handbells, played piano for many programs and was an interim organist. As a member and past president of Presbyterian Women, she helped start two circle groups. She was a member of the Merry Mates church group, and was a member and past president of P.E.O., Chapter KC.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Margaret "Peg," nee, Osterhout, Smith; and two brothers, Thomas Smith and Karl Smith.

Surviving are her loving husband, Loren T. Elliott; a daughter, Joy (Colin) Baltz; a son, Jay (Mary) Elliott; a sister, Susan (Shep) Spear; sisters-in-law, Betsy Smith, and Janet (Jimmy) Garth; grandchildren, Conor Baltz, Maggie Baltz, and Bobby Elliott.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, 3412 Frank Scott Parkway West, Belleville, Ill., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at First United Presbyterian Church, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at First United Presbyterian Church, 1303 Royal Heights Rd., Belleville, Ill. Interment will be held in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.
