Mark Edward McDaniel, 57, of Mulkeytown, Ill., formerly of Sauget, Ill., born Nov. 23, 1958, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Friday, August 12, 2016, at his residence.

Mark was employed as a Corrections Officer at the Big Muddy Correctional Center in Ina, Ill., and was the Vice- President of the AFSCME Local 3663. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving two separate tours of duty.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carroll and Gertrude Thomas, and Maurice and Merle McDaniel; a step-grandmother, Carol McDaniel; a father-in-law, William Dollins; a brother-in-law, John Tolbird; and two uncles, Joseph Thomas and Henry Calbreath.

Surviving are his wife, Billie Dawn McDaniel, nee Dollins; a daughter, Karley McDaniel at home; his parents, J.C. and Yvonne, nee Thomas, McDaniel of Sauget, Ill.; a brother, James McDaniel of Springfield, Ill.; two sisters, Denise (Jack) Latchem of Waterloo, Ill., and Cynthia (Billy) Luther of Columbia, Ill.; his mother-in-law, Diana Tolbird of Dupo, Ill.; father-in-law, Toliver "Buck" Tolbird of Sunset Hills, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Alan) Unger of Florida, and Dena (Thomas) Range of Eddyville, Ky.; three nieces, Breeyn (Dan) Lane, Bryce (Brad Dillenberger) Latchem, and Deana True; eight nephews, Kellen (Rachael) Latchem, Devin (Christina) Latchem, Brady (Torey Byrd) Luther, Brett Luther, Mason McDaniel, Davis McDaniel, Thomas Range, Jr., and John Range; 10 great-nieces and nephews. He was a dear nephew, cousin, and friend.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016, at the funeral home, with Pastor Gordon Calbreath officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
