Martin E. "Marty" Keniley, 57, born May 29, 1959, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at home surrounded by family.

Marty was preceded in death by his mother, Carole, nee Stites, Keniley; father, Maurice "Skip" Keniley; sister Maura Pedersen; and father-in-law, Bob Frazier.

Surviving are his loving wife, Nancy, nee Frazier, Keniley; sons Noah and Shane Keniley; brothers, Mike (Marsha) Keniley, Norman Keniley, and Sean Keniley; sisters, Mary Sebby, Margie (Dale) Hanson, and Teresa (Joseph) Coccaro; brothers-in-law, Bob (Mary) Frazier, Glenn (Kathryn) Frazier, and Greg (Jeni) Frazier; sister-in-law, Joanne (Larry) Hutchisson; mother-in-law, Donna Frazier; step-mother Gayle Keniley; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Marty served in the U.S. Navy from 1978 to 1984, stationed in Rota, Spain, during the Beirut Conflict. He had a long, courageous battle with spinocerebellar ataxia 3 (also known as Machado Joseph Disease). He worked for Citgo Refinery in Lemont, Ill., as an instrument technician until his disability forced him to retire in 2000. Marty loved his large extended family, travel, wind-surfing, and huge backyard barbeques.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Ataxia Foundation, 2600 Fernbrook Lane N, Suite 119, Minneapolis, Minn., 55447-4752, will be appreciated.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 and 59, Plainfield, Ill.

Funeral: The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 South Route 59, Plainfield, Ill. A private family interment will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill.
