Mary E. Peterson, 79, of Edwardsville, Ill., born April 30, 1937 in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away at 2:08 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.
She was currently attending Meadowbrook First Southern Baptist Church in Moro, Ill. She was a philanthropist, an avid baseball fan, and her family was her passion. She loved her large extended family as she had many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She would never miss a "cousin's lunch".
Mary had a heart for the Lord and was passionate about caring out His work through a variety of missions and charities such as volunteering at Anderson Hospital as a "Pink Lady", and coordinating supply donations for the Christian Activity Center of East St. Louis, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her fathers, Vincent Carril and John Wyrostek; and her mother, Anna, nee Brady Wyrostek.
Surviving are her husband, Bob Peterson, whom she married on Sept. 1, 1956; three daughters, Denise "Aunt Dee" Peterson of Creve Coeur Mo., Janice Kay (Tim) Phelps of Columbus Ohio, Stephanie (Dan) Peterson-Grauerholz of Des Moines Iowa; a son, Rob (Kim) Peterson of New Douglas Ill.; 16 grandchildren: Hannah (Jacob), Amelia, Olivia, Crisanda, Jacob, Shaun, Mya, Jaeonna, Stella, Lillyanna, Charleeanna, Eli, Megan, Paige, Abbie, and Chloee; and two great-grandsons, Bryant and Logan; two brothers, John (Emma Jean) Wyrostek of Glen Carbon Ill., and Tom (Sue) Wyrostek of Granite City Ill.; two sisters: Jean Wyrostek-Eads of Jerseyville Ill., and Anna (Charlie) Van DeVusse of Dunnellon Fla.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, Ill., and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 at Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 at Meadow Heights Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles West officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon Ill.
