Matthew Oldehoeft, 46, of Belleville, Ill., born Jan. 21, 1970, in Lawrence, Kan., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, as the result of a motorcycle accident.
Matt held a bachelor of science degree from South Dakota State University, Brookings, S.D. He worked in the oil refining business for many years and most recently worked at the Prairie State Energy Campus, Marissa, Ill. Outside of work, Matt enjoyed helping friends, reading, hiking, and especially spending time with his family. Matt had many wonderful qualities and will be deeply missed. He is loved and will never be replaced.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Gail, nee Schlueter, Oldehoeft, whom he married on Aug. 15, 1992; three children, Emma Oldehoeft, Thomas Oldehoeft, and James Oldehoeft; his father, Lowell (LaVonne) Oldehoeft; his mother, Paula, nee Williamson, (Larry) Strickland; a sister, Debra Bailey; his father-in law and mother-in-law, Floyd and Carol Schlueter; two sisters-in-law, Diane (John) Dean, and Elaine (Dmitri) Michaelides; a brother-in-law, Brian (Kim) Schlueter; and nieces and nephews, Jack Bailey, Jill Dean, Athena Michaelides, and Dino Michaelides.

Funeral: According to Matt's wishes, there will be no funeral services, and a private family burial will be held.
