Maxine Poell, nee Maxwell, 86, of Belleville, Ill., born Wednesday, April 2, 1930, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
Maxine was a 1948 graduate of St. Teresa Academy in East St. Louis, Ill., a charter member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Belleville Ill., and a member of the Queen of Peace Sodality. Maxine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren brought her the greatest joy in life.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen M. Paulson; parents, Raymond and Edna, nee Montine, Maxwell; brother, Ray Maxwell; sister, Mary Blue; sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Forrest) Buesking, and Lucy Maxwell; and beloved nieces and nephews.
Surviving are her dear husband of 59 years, Joseph M. Poell of Belleville, Ill.; children, Kathy (Steve) Odenwald of Belleville, Ill., Joseph (Marla) Poell of Libertyville, Ill., and Kay (John) Hoerner of Belleville, Ill.; son-in-law, Al (Kristy) Paulson of Belleville, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Andy Odenwald, Matt Odenwald (fiancee, Maureen Beederman), Stephanie Odenwald, Stephanie Uliks, Sydney Poell, Olivia Poell, Danny Paulson, Robby Paulson, Jenny Paulson, Jonathan Hoerner, and Sarah Hoerner; brothers, Al (Faye) Maxwell of O'Fallon, Ill., and Carl Maxwell of Collinsville, Ill.; sister-in-law, Helen Maxwell of Belleville, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral: A funeral procession will leave from Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Ill., at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Belleville, Ill., with Msgr. Jack McEvilly officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
