Mildred L. Tapley, nee Ford, 93, of Columbia, Ill., formerly of Cahokia, Ill., born Nov. 4, 1922, in Reevesville, Ill., passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Columbia Rehab and Nursing.
Mrs. Tapley was the owner/operator of Do Stop Inn in Centreville, Ill., from 1955 to 1961. She retired as manager of Memorial Coffee Shop in 1996.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Tapley; a son, Alan Tapley; two daughters-in-law, Gayle Tapley and Dana Tapley: her parents, Claude and Effie Ford; a sister, Stella Chamberlain; a brother, Arnold Ford; and a grandson, Roger Trog.
Surviving are her two sons, Marvin Tapley and Ronald "Skeeter" (Gwyn) Tapley; her grandchildren, Veronica (Jeff) Dunlap, Kelly (Devion) Cooper, Amy Tapley, Sarah (Phil) Caravia, Jimmie Soccomono, Clint Tapley, and Shirley (Rusty) Jones; her great-grandchildren, Bailey and Brady McAfee, Kiersten Moore, Kris Wilson, Patrick Wilson, Jonathan Craig, and Ronny Rust; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was a dear aunt, cousin, and friend.
