Norma E. Haberer, nee Lorenz, 80, of Highland, Ill., born Oct. 29, 1935, in Highland, Ill., died Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at her residence.
Norma was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, Ill., and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and she looked forward to going to the Lake of the Ozarks every year with the "girls". Norma was an election judge for more than 40 years, played or coached 40-and-over softball leagues for more than 20 years, bowled for many years in different leagues in Highland, Ill., and enjoyed working with her flowers in her garden.
Norma was born October 29, 1935, to John and Albertina (nee Halder) Lorenz in Highland, IL. On January 8 1955, she married Wesley Haberer at Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lorenz who died Oct. 24, 1970, and Albertina, nee Halder, Lorenz who died Aug. 10, 1979.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Wes Haberer; children, Keith (Christy) Haberer of Highland, Ill., Connie (Frank) Michaelis of Highland, Ill., and Lisa (Jeff) Pourchot of Highland, Ill.; grandchildren, Shandela (Bill) Anderson, Joseph S. (Tricia) Stock, Benjamin J. (Kim) Haberer, Jennifer (Ned) Kampwerth, and Kaden Pourchot; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Highland Animal Shelter or donor's choice.
Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at the church with Rev. Chris Hill, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Hug Cemetery, Millersburg, Ill.
