Norma J. Newsom, nee Crews, 80, of Belleville, Ill., born Nov. 16, 1935, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mrs. Newsom was a cashier at many local grocery stores including A&P, and later Tri-City, Tom Boy at Wade Square in Belleville, Ill., and Shop 'N Save. She was a member of the Belleville Senior Citizens Club and was an avid bingo player.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Imogene, nee Weinhoffer, Crews; and a sister, Anna May Coke, nee Lindburg.
Surviving are her husband of nearly 63 years, Kenneth E. Newsom, whom she married on March 7, 1953; a son, Richard E. (Samantha) Newsom of Trenton, Ill.; two grandchildren, Ashley (David) Love of Madison, Miss., and Zachary Montague of Trenton, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Christian Love; a brother, Larry Crews Sr. of Tilden, Ill.; a sister, Marion Gerald of Marissa, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Peggy) Robinson of Coulterville, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service.
