Oscar P. Dickhaut, 87, of rural Trenton, Ill., born May 28, 1929, in Belleville, Ill., died Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Highland Health Care Center.
Oscar grew up in Mascoutah and attended Holy Childhood School, Woodland County School, and New Baden High School. He helped with the family farm. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War in 1951. He worked 42 years at Peerless Product Enamel Company in Belleville, Ill. After his marriage, he moved to rural Trenton "St. Morgan". He lived there until April of 2016. He was the "Mayor of St. Morgan".
Oscar was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He was also a former member of Holy Name Society of St. Paul Church, The Stove, Furnace and Allied Appliances Workers Local 60 of Belleville, and a former trustee of Clinton County Electric.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen, nee Voegele, Dickhaut, whom he married on Oct. 27, 1956, in Highland, Ill., and who died June 15, 2006; parents, Oscar H. and Genevieve R., nee Grimmer, Dickhaut; brothers, Andrew H. Dickhaut and Joseph H. Dickhaut; and a brother-in-law, Derl L. Monken.
Surviving are his brother, Simon P. (Jane) Dickhaut of Mascoutah, Ill.; and two sisters, Rose M. Monken of Highland, Ill., and Joan G. Clark of Mascoutah, Ill.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill., with Father Pat G. Jakel officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, Ill.
