Paul O. Godt, Jr., 74, of Coulterville, Ill., born Wednesday, March 5, 1941, in Little Rock, Ark., died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016 at his residence.
Paul was a retired bank manager and never knew a stranger. He was an avid fisherman. His wife, Sara, was his best friend and partner. They loved to go to Kentucky Lake and fish. He loved his home in the country, the wildlife, watching the birds, and really anything outdoors.
His beloved dog, Maggie, was his constant companion until Dec. 10, 2013, and will be waiting to welcome him to heaven. He will also miss the two dogs he is leaving behind Bonnie and Clyde.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul O. and Una, nee Paisley, Godt, Sr.; and his brother, Jay Louis Godt.
Surviving are his wife, Sara A., nee Aldridge, Godt of Coulterville, Ill.; daughter, Paula (Brad) Scharf of Millstadt, Ill.; son, Jay A. (Karen) Godt of Belleville, Ill.; grandchildren, Bradley (Martha) Scharf, Lauren (Danny) Deitz, Kyle (Emily) Scharf, Logan Scharf, Brandon Godt, Morgan Godt; great-grandson, Wesley Deitz.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Concordia United Church of Christ, Hospice of Southern Illinois or Belleville Humane Society. Condolences may be expressed online at www.kurrusfh.com.
Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be private.
