Peggy F. Tinnon, 80, of Granite City, Ill., born Oct. 28, 1935, in Montgomery, Ala., died at 10:16 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, in Granite City, Ill.
Peggy was a nurses' aid at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Granite City, Ill., for 35 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Mt. Zion General Baptist Church. She was also the world's best mother and loving wife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Weldon Tinnon, whom she married on Aug. 18, 1953, in Caruthersville, Mo., and who died Jan. 5, 2016; a son, Weldon Melbird Tinnon; her father, John Jones; her mother, Peggy Lee Jones; brothers, Roy, William and Jimmy Jones; and a sister, Elsie Jones.
Surviving are her children, Paul N. Tinnon (Karen Johnson) of Granite City, Ill., Cecil S. Tinnon (Jaquline Aman) of O'Fallon, Mo., and Vanessa G. (John) Leonard of Germantown, Ill.; grandchildren, John W. Tinnon, Ginger Ann Tinnon, Paul Jason Tinnon, Dustin Ray Tinnon, Nathan Jeffery Tinnon, Nicholas Scott Tinnon, Cole Edward Leonard and Nicole Marie Leonard; great-grandchidlren, Morgan Tinnon, Amber Nolan and Katelyn Tinnon; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the family and can be received at the funeral home.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home, Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Gray and Rev. Clint Bremen officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Granite City, Ill.
