Peter Barduniotis Obituary
Peter Barduniotis

Peter Barduniotis, beloved husband of the late Marina "Mary" Barduniotis; Father of Alexandra (Michael) Komninos, Martha (Emmett) McAuliffe and James (Maria) Barduniotis fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, at the age of 95.

Born in Kefalari (Corinth), Greece, the eldest of nine, he immigrated to America in the 1950s. He became the owner-proprietor of the Illinois Avenue Tavern, which also served lunch to the many downtown workers in those days. He sponsored three of his brothers and two of his sisters in emigrating to Metro-East St. Louis and Chicago.

In 1956, he married Marina "Mary" Carahalios, his loving wife of 52 years who passed in 2008. He loved yard work and tended a copious vegetable garden up until recently. He was a loving Papou to his seven grandchildren: Robert, Mark Peter, Alexander and Maria McAuliffe of St. Louis and Elena, Laura and Deborah Barduniotis of Colorado Springs. He was a loving brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend to many.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. May his memory be eternal and may God rest his soul.

Services: Viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, with the Trisagion. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 405 Huntwood Rd., Swansea, Ill. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Makaria (Memorial meal) to follow at the church hall.
