Philip Andrew Korb, 77, of Belleville, Ill., born Jan. 2, 1939, in Bucyrus, Ohio, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill., with his loving family by his side.
After graduating from Stetson University, Philip proudly served his country in the United States Army and performed medical lab work on base. After the Army, he went to work at Cape Canaveral doing QA work on the nitric acid feed lines and other duties, and eventually got a job working with radioactive isotopes in organic compounds. He is renowned in the field even after retirement for synthesis of radioactive organics under vacuum. Besides chemistry, he enjoyed music, traveling, and being outdoors. Philip was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard E. and Hazel, nee Yost, Korb; and his stepmother, Ernestine Korb.
Surviving and will be missed by his loving wife of 32 years, Pauline, nee Cole, Korb; five sons, Lewis (Linda) Fischer, Rick (Bonnie) Scheffler, Gary Scheffler, Sean Korb, and Scott Korb; two daughters, Tonni (Dave) Loutzenhiser and Edith (Anthony) Korb; seven grandchildren, Tamara (Wil) Fischer, Jason (Cynthia) Scheffler, Ian (Sarah) Scheffler, Donovan Fischer, Alexander Fischer, Nigel Loutzenhiser, and Alexis Loutzenhiser; a great-granddaughter, Victoria Scheffler; three brothers, Danny Korb, Sam Korb, and Jim Korb; two sisters, Patricia Korb and Wilma Korb; an aunt, Edith McIntire; two sisters-in-law, Marian Handwerk and Carolyn (Larry) Porter; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at Greenmount Road Church of Christ, 25 N. Greenmount Rd., Belleville, Ill.
Funeral: Memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at the church. Inurnment at a later date.
