Philip C. Lannert, 89, of Freeburg, Ill., born Nov. 14, 1926, in Freeburg, Ill., died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, Ill.
Mr. Lannert retired from Civil Service at Scott Air Force Base and during that time worked in the water department. He was very proud to have been retired for 35 years. He was an avid bowler, hunter, fisherman, and golfer and earned four holes-in-one. A member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Freeburg, he was a life-time member and past master of the Freeburg Masonic Lodge #418. Phil was a World War II United States Army veteran and a life-time member of the VFW Post 7074.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Katherine, nee Bauer, Lannert; and two brothers, Clifford (Maxine) Lannert and Irvin (Elizabeth) Lannert.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Evelyn, nee Lischer, Lannert, whom he married on November 20, 1948; one son, Steven Lannert of New Athens, Ill.; one daughter, Ann (Allen) Castens of Freeburg, Ill.; three grandchildren, Angela (Chad) Sanders, Adam (Jill) Lannert, and Elaine (Chris) Koch; four great-grandchildren, Brynne and Maya Sanders, Olivia Koch, and Gabriella Lannert; one brother, Henry (Helen) Lannert of Fort Myers, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Freeburg, Ill.
Funeral: A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at the church with Rev. Earl Crecelius officiating.
