Rachel Sharkey

Rachel Mary Sharkey, 22, of O'Fallon, Ill., born June 13, 1989, in Del Rio, Texas, died peacefully at home Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011.

Rachel was a 2007 graduate of O'Fallon Township High School. Music was very important in her life and she frequently attended concerts. Rachel was most proud to be an aunt and godmother and loved spending time with her family and her precious puppies, Marley and Bailey. While her family was stationed in Japan, she modeled clothing for department stores and various magazines. She traveled frequently for much of her life. Rachel spent as much time on the beach as she could while living in California. She had an adventurous spirit and was generous with her time and attention to anyone she met. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and Green Peace.

Rachel was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandmother, Mary L. Sharkey; paternal grandfather, Thomas M. Sharkey; maternal grandfather, H. Franklin Ketcham; and godfather, Jeffrey B. Ketcham.

Surviving are her parents, Thomas M II and Wendy K., nee Ketcham, Sharkey of O'Fallon, Ill.; three sisters and one brother, Stephanie (Josh) Webster of Fairmont, Ind., Timothy Crenshaw of Belleville, Ill., Hannah (fiance, CJ Voss) Crenshaw of Wheeling, Ill., Erin Maureen Sharkey of O'Fallon, Ill., maternal grandmother, Rose Ketcham of Marion, Ind., paternal grandmother, Felicia Sharkey of Laguna Woods, Calif., nephew and niece, Aidan Webster and Addelyn Webster, both of Fairmount, Ind.; godmother, Maureen Fortenberry of Riverside, Calif.; goddaughter, Layla Casole of North Carolina, best friend, Angel Merryman; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Memorials, in honor of Rachel may be made to St. Louis Children's Hospital Foundation to benefit the sibling playroom or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.schildknechtfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Monsignor William Hitpas officiating.
