Rebecca L. Groff, nee Jarboe, 94, born Feb. 16, 1922, in Grayville, Ill., died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, in Breese, Ill.
Becky grew up and lived most of her life in Grayville, Ill. She married Herschel F. Groff on April 2, 1943, and raised three sons: Bob, Jim, and David in Grayville, Ill. Becky was a teacher at the Grayville Elementary School, a participant in the Wabash Valley Duplicate Bridge Club, and a member of the Grayville Presbyterian Church.
From 2008 to 2015, Becky lived at the Villas at St. James in Breese, Ill., and from December 2015 to August 2016, she lived at the Aviston Countryside Manor in Aviston, Ill. She enjoyed and loved the staff at the Villas and Countryside Manor.
Becky loved all kinds of sports and was an enthusiastic St. Louis Cardinals fan. She also loved to travel, gamble, and enjoyed dinners with family and friends. No meal was complete without dessert!
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Catherine, nee Johnson, Jarboe; husband, Herschel Groff; sons Robert and David; sister and brother-in-law, Maynette and Ralph Alcorn; and nephew, Mike Alcorn.
Surviving are a son, Jim (Andi) Groff of New Baden, Ill.; granddaughters, Susan Groff (Steve Browne) of Santa Monica, Calif., and Pam Groff (Dan Robertson) of Arlington, Va.; step-granddaughter, Nancy (Will) Harrison; step- great-grandsons Will, David, and Charlie Harrison of Winnsboro, Texas; sister Rose (Al) Maruyama of Aurora, Colo.; nephews and nieces, including Tim (Becki) Alcorn, Sarah Biles, John Maruyama, and Peter Groff; and members of her extended family, Tami Gubbins, Elih Tani, Gracie Wilson and Barb Wilson.

Visitation: Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at Cook Funeral Chapel, 221 North First Street, Grayville, Ill. 62844.
Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 291, 2016, at Cook Funeral Chapel, Grayville, Ill. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Grayville, Ill.
