Richard Eugene Sullivan Sr., 95, of Fairmont City, Ill., born Feb. 18, 1920, in Carrollton, Ill., passed away at 3:38 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Sullivan was a World War II veteran. He was also an inspector for Cerro Copper and Brass in Sauget for 37 years before retiring in 1982.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel L. "Snookie", nee Berning, Sullivan, whom he married on May 31, 1944, in East St. Louis, Ill., and who died Oct. 2, 2006; parents, Alonzo and Myrtle, nee Milner, Sullivan; son, Dennis Sullivan; daughter, Pat Mahan; seven brothers, Leroy, Harold, Robert, Keith, Marice and Louis Sullivan; and two sisters, Mable Sullivan and Nellie Sloan.
Surviving are three sons, Richard (Joyce) Sullivan Jr., of Fairmont City, Bill (Lulu) Sullivan of Cahokia, and Wesley Sullivan of Granite City; a daughter, Vera (Charlie) Brown of Fairmont City; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Marks Mortuary, Wood River, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Gardens, Bethalto, Ill.
