Rita J. Barker, nee Hohe, 79, of Cahokia, Ill., born Jan. 15, 1937, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Mrs. Barker retired from St. Clair County's Treasures Office. She was a former member of St. Catherine's Laboure Catholic Church in Cahokia and recently a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Barker; her parents, Arnold and Gertrude, nee Marshall, Hohe; her brothers, John, Bill, Arnold and Raymond Hohe; a sister, Betty Culpepper; two nephews, Eddie and Freddie Culpepper; and a niece, Sandy Higgins.
Surviving are her children, Kenneth (Karen) Barker of Belleville, Ill., Robert (Mary) Barker of Cahokia, Ill., and Catherine (Dane) James of Cahokia, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was a dear aunt, cousin and friend to all.

Visitation: A memorial gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Cahokia, Ill.
Funeral: A Funeral Mass will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the church with Father Linus Umoren officiating.
