Robert Gregory Bittner, 84, of Belleville, Ill., born Jan. 21, 1931, in Kansas City, Mo., died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Bittner retired from A.G. Edwards. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict, a recipient of the Purple Heart, and a member of American Legion Belleville Post 58.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Roberta A., nee Risley, Bittner, whom he married on Jan. 14, 1950, and who died on August 17, 2009; his parents, Jerome and Alice, nee Dolson, Bittner; three brothers, Eugene, Jerome Jr., and Joseph Bittner; and two sisters, Veronica Collins and Mary Lou Bittner.
Surviving are three sons and a daughter, Michael (Cathy) Bittner of Sullivan, Mo., Linda (Bill) Whitaker of Belleville, Ill., Jerome (Cheryl) Bittner of Memphis, Tenn., and Richard ((Liz) Bittner of O'Fallon, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Ryan (LaDawn) Bittner of Bourbon, Mo., Tammy (Mike) Branson, Jason (Amy) Whitaker, and Bryan (Robyn) Whitaker, all of Belleville, Ill., Nicole (Nathan) Parchman of O'Fallon, Ill., Nathaniel Bittner (fiancee, Sarah Blackerby) of Branson, Mo., and Christopher (Julie) Fischer of Hazelwood, Mo.; 11 great-grandchildren, Jaimee, Jarrett, Jaycee, Mackenzie, Austin, Hunter, Brooklyn, Kayleigh, Aidan, Carlee, and Madyson; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, at the funeral home, with Rev. Doug Munton officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
