Robert J. Bunch, 81, of Coulterville, Ill., formerly of Belleville, Ill., born June 25, 1934, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at his home.

Mr. Bunch retired in 1988 as the lead meter reader of the parking division for the City of Belleville, Ill. He was a United States Navy veteran and served on the USS Megara during the Korean Conflict. Bob always enjoyed the fact that he attended Wolf Branch when it was a one room school house. He was a proud member of the Flying Dutchman Airport in Belleville, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Ruth, nee DeClue, Bunch; uncle and aunt who raised him, John and Eula, nee DeClue, Thompson; an infant son, Crayton Bunch; and a brother, Jerry Bunch.

Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Allegra, nee Dickerson, Bunch whom he married on June 14, 1958, in Belleville, Ill.; son, Clay (Rose) Bunch of Belleville, Ill.; grandchildren, Clara (Scott) Hansen of Freeburg, Ill., and Amy (Andrew) Vollmer of Columbia, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Shelbie Hansen, Jillian Hansen, Mabrie Hansen, Aaden Vollmer, and Ashton Vollmer; brothers, John (Jean) Bunch of Belleville, Ill., Kenneth Thompson of Belleville, Ill., Johnny Thompson of Belleville, Ill., and Jimmie (Carolyn) Thompson of Smithton, Ill.; a sister, Delores (Richard) Lawrence of Belleville, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Dwayne Dickerson of Denver, Colo., and Del-Rae (Rebecca) Dickerson of Morton, Ill.; and sister-in-law, Frances Bunch of Caseyville, Ill. Bob is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends.

To go along the Silent Way, grieve not

Nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk

Of me as if I were beside you there.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, Ill.



Funeral: A service of remembrance will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, Ill., and will be followed by Naval Funeral Honors. Interment will be in the Marissa Township Cemetery in Marissa, Ill.
