Robert W. Carr, 85, of Cahokia, Ill., born Aug. 12, 1921, in St. Louis, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at
Willow Creek Nursing Center, Belleville, Ill.
Robert was retired from National Lead Co., St. Louis, Mo., and also Lindbergh School District, St. Louis, Mo. He was a member of Swansea Church were he was a Deacon and a choir member. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the World's Fair Society, St. Louis. He was a World War II U.S. Army-Air Corps veteran, serving in Africa and Italy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth, nee Heidsiek, Carr; a sister, Laverne E. Miller; a cousin, Beatrice G. Amrhein; and a granddaughter, Lynn Carr.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, nee Maxhall, Carr of Cahokia, Ill.; two sons, Robert W. (Cynthia) Carr Jr. of Cumming, Ga., and John D. (Susann) Carr of Belleville, Ill.; a daughter, Ellen E. (Stephen Cobb) Carr of Cahokia, Ill.; his grandchildren, David P. and Jessica L. Carr of Belleville, Ill., Elizabeth A. Carr of Cumming, Ga., Robert R. Carr of Cumming, Ga., and William M. Carr of Cumming, Ga.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
Memorials may be made to Swansea Church or to the Swansea Food Pantry.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, and from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Ill., with the Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
