Roy W. McCoy, 75, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Glen Carbon, Ill., passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at his residence.
Roy was born in East St, Louis, Ill., the only child of Roy J. McCoy and Helen Bernice McCoy. Roy was a graduate of East St. Louis High School where he met Amelia, who became his high school sweetheart, and later his wife. His career in the optical business spanned almost 40 years starting at American Optical Company in 1958. He and Amelia owned and actively managed retail optical stores in Granite City and Maryville, Ill., until their retirement from the business in 1997. Roy loved live music and attended countless band performances with Amelia, their children, grandchildren and friends. He was also an avid jogger having completed The Big Sur Marathon in 1990 and again in 1992.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy J. and Helen Bernice McCoy; as well as two brothers, Bob Burch and Ralph "Babe" Dunham.
Surviving are his loving wife, Amelia; a daughter, Kimberly and her husband, Mark Mueller of Edwardsville Ill.; two sons, Roy S. of Round Rock, Texas and Michael D. and his wife, Ruthann of Austin, Texas and their two sons, Eric and Jake, both of Austin, Texas. Roy is also survived by his brother, Edward Dunham; as well as a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews which most notably would be his brother-in-law, and long-time best friend, John Garner.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Kassly Mortuary, 9900 St. Clair Avenue, Fairview Heights, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill., with Pastor Hal Santos officiating.
