Rudolph "Rudy" Diaz, 86, of O'Fallon, Ill., born June 18, 1929 in Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in Maryville, Ill.

Rudy served 28 years in the U.S. Navy as a machinist mate, nuclear trained aboard various submarines. He then worked for Monsanto's W.G. Krummrich Plant where he retired as maintenance superintendent. Rudy was a member of the Masonic Temple-St. Andrews Lodge 56 F & A.M. of Portsmouth N.H., Dania Shrine Club, and Scottish Rite Masonic Bodies Valley of Southern Illinois and Ainad Shriners of East St. Louis, Ill.

Rudy was a loving man, who will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion, nee McNabb, Diaz; a daughter, Sharon, nee Diaz, Kinzel; parents, Arthur and Mary, nee Jasso, Diaz; and his brother, Johnny Nesmith.

Surviving are his daughters, Denise (Jim) Fogwell of O'Fallon, Ill., and Colleen Bennett of O'Fallon, Ill.; a son, Glenn (Charmaine) Diaz of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, James P. Fogwell, Shanna Kinzel, Serena Hyder, Crystal Taylor, Dustin (Meredith) Hyder, Scott Bennett, and Tonya (William) Ozee; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Cedarhurst of Shiloh, Ill., and Liberty Village of Maryville, Ill., for their excellent care.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, April 22, 2016 at Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 S. Lincoln Ave. O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral: A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, April 22, 2016 at the funeral home with Rev. Danny Cox officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
