Russell William Niemeyer, 93, of Troy, Ill., born Nov. 2, 1922, in Quincy, Ill., passed away at 9:40 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, at his home.
Mr. Niemeyer retired from Boeing after 30 years of dedicated service with McDonnell Douglas as an aircraft tool builder. The United States Army veteran proudly served his country during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Troy and a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 837. Russ was an avid train enthusiast and loved spending time working with his trains and villages. He also loved his days of woodworking, building furniture, working with his garden and had a love for food and lived life to its fullest. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry and Clara Anna Marie, nee Gnuse, Niemeyer; and two daughters, Saundra Krueger and Belinda Lee Niemeyer.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Mary Lois, nee Brewer, Niemeyer, whom he married on Oct. 21, 1967, in Belleville, Ill.; two daughters, Dianna King of Festus, Mo., and Shela Ray of Affton, Mo.; stepdaughter, Renee (Tom) Kelley of Alexandria, La.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Maxwell of San Antonio, Texas; other extended family and friends.

Visitation: In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Funeral: A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2016, at the funeral home with Rev. Mitchel Schuessler officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Troy, Ill.
