Ruth Lee

Ruth A. Lee, nee Schroder, 91, formerly of Cahokia, Ill., passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Stonebridge Manors, Maryland Heights, Mo.

Born in St. John, KS on March 2, 1924, she graduated from St. Rose Hospital in Great Bend, Kan., with a degree in Nursing and served in the U.S. WWII Cadet Nursing Corps where she met the love of her life, Earl. They married on July 27, 1946. Ruth worked as a surgical and maternity nurse in her early married years and eventually became the school nurse at Wirth Junior High School in Cahokia, Ill., where she later retired.

She was a founding member of the Cahokia Christian Church where she devoted unlimited time and energy. Ruth was always grateful for what she had, generous with those she loved and sensitive to anyone who needed help. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was an avid reader, bridge player, story teller and writer. She loved taking walks on the beach, traveling and accompanying Earl on fishing trips.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Lee; her parents, Claude and Clara Schroder; three brothers, Ray, Delbert "Bud", and Don Schroder; and two sisters, Doris Hamilton and Melva Noyes.

Surviving are her children, Linda(Chuck) Martin of Phoenix, Ariz., Deborah(John) Schey of Belleville, Ill., Sheila (Edward)Hatala of Chesterfield, Mo., and Suzanne Lee of Cahokia, Ill. She is lovingly remembered as "Bita" by grandchildren, Rebekah(Brian) Morovitz, Amber(Rob) Bennet, Corbin Schey, Tyler Schey, Michelle Hatala and Eric Hatala; and great-grandchildren, Gwendolyn Morovitz, Brady Morovitz, Parker Bennet and Oliver Bennet; as well as beloved nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues.

Memorials may be made to the Azheimer's Association or the donor's choice.

Funeral: Private interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
