Samuel G. Couch, 77, of York, Pa., born Nov. 12, 1933, in Cheswick, Pa., died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at Providence Place.
Mr. Couch was the corporate controller of Dentsply International Inc. for 20 years, retiring in 1987. Prior to relocating to York, Mr. Couch held the position of senior accountant at Price Waterhouse public accountants in Pittsburgh.
A 1951 graduate of Aspinwall High School, he attended Allegheny College in Meadville, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Mr. Couch graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh school of business administration in 1959. At Pitt, he was a member and vice president of Beta Alpha Psi professional accounting fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 at Fort Benning, Ga.
Mr. Couch was a certified public accountant and a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Financial Executives Institute and the Administrative Management Society.
He was a member of the Victory Athletic Association and the Viking Athletic Association. Since 1964, Mr. Couch was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and trustee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith S., nee Stacey, Couch, who passed away in 2001; his daughter, Patricia Couch Loreto; his parents, Edna, nee Palmer, and Samuel G. Couch, Sr.; and a sister, Sanda Couch.
Surviving are his three sons, Jeffry Hultz Couch and his wife, Kerry of Mascoutah, Ill., Gregory Charles Couch and his wife, Mary Kate of Columbia, Md., and Michael David Couch and his wife, Margaret of York, Pa.; five grandchildren, Sara Dexheimer of Alexandria, Va., Karen Dexheimer of York, Pa., Rebecca Couch of Columbia, Md., Samuel Joseph Couch of York, Pa., and Lily Couch of Columbia, Md.; a sister, Linda Grinder of Springdale, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 311 Haines Road, York, Pa., with his pastor, The Rev. Dr. Greg Seckman, officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of the church following the service.
