Scott Miller Obituary
Scott Miller

Scott Allen Miller, 48, of Caseyville, Ill., born on May 28, 1967, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015.

Scott served in the United States Army. He was a graduate of Southwestern Illinois College Police Academy. Scott worked as a policeman for 22 years, a detective, sergeant and interim chief for the Caseyville Police Department. He was a member of the Major Case Squad and an active member of the Caseyville Moose Lodge. Scott loved to vacation with his family and loved to laugh and his mission was to help people.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Miller.

Surviving are his wife, Jamie L., nee Alvarez, Miller of Caseyville, Ill.; his children, Justin, Jordan, Makenzie, and Maxwell Miller, all of Caseyville, Ill.; his mother, Sharon, nee Wells, Jordan of Caseyville, Ill.; his brothers and sisters, Daryl (Karen) Bradshaw of St. Peters, Mo., John (Janet) Bradshaw of Warrenton, Mo., Laura (Danny) Hillerman of Washington, Mo., and Paula (Matt) Adcock of Winter Garden, Fla.; his stepmother, Norma Miller of Washington, Mo.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anthony and Donna Alvarez Sr., of Caseyville, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Anthony (Buffy) Alvarez Jr., of Peveley, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Jody (Eric) Reichelt of Marissa, Ill.; his best friends, Eric Wakefield of Troy, Ill., and Bill Herling Jr., of Belleville, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

When I start my tour of duty God, wherever crime may be, as I walk the darkened streets alone, let me be close to Thee. Please give me understanding with both the young and old. Let me listen with the attention until their story's told. Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way, but let me hold my patience; let each man have his say. Lord, if some dark and dreary night, I must give my life, Lord, with your everlasting love protect my children and my wife.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kahoks Strong, the Backstoppers, or Paws and Stripes. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.kasslyfuneral.com.
