Stanley V. "Stan" Triefenbach, 78, of Marissa, Ill., born on Sept. 19, 1937, in Belleville, Ill., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015.

Stan was a lifelong resident of Marissa and attended high school there and also Missouri Business School in St. Louis, Mo. He served in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps in the Washington D.C. area. There he met his future wife, Marilynn, nee O'Donnell. They were married on Sept. 3, 1962 in Arlington, Va. Stan was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Helen, nee Kunze, Triefenbach.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Janice (Marc) Maurer of New Athens, Ill.; son, Kevin (Jennifer) Triefenbach of Freeburg, Ill.; a brother, Fred Triefenbach of Palm Springs, Calif.; grandsons, Robert (Danielle) Smith, Christopher Smith, Spencer Triefenbach and Deric Maurer; great-granddaughter, Madilyn Smith; step great-granddaughter, Chesney Harvel; cousins, Kent Vollert, George Vollert and Sandford Triefenbach; sisters-in-law, Arleen Carpenter and Lois Woitkowshi of North Carolina and Lynn Koscher of Illinois; and brother-in-law, William O'Donnell of South Carolina.

Memorials may be made to Marissa First Responders, Marissa Fire Department, Legion Post 172 of Marissa or Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Visitation: Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, Ill.

Funeral: Services with military honors will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, Ill. Due to his wishes cremation will take place.
