Stephen C. Nemsky 19, of Granite City, Ill., born Feb. 13, 1990, in Maryville, Ill., passed from this life on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009.
Stephen was a student at Southwestern Illinois College studying automotive collision repair. He worked for Keefe Commissary Network in St. Louis. Stephen loved to fish and often dreamed of having a house in the country with his own fishing pond. Stephen was very active in all kinds of sports, playing football, basketball, baseball and was on the soccer team at the Elks in Granite City. He enjoyed following his favorite hockey team the St. Louis Blues. His family and friends describe him as easy-going with a happy-go-lucky personality. He was very non-judgmental and just enjoyed being around his family and friends. He was preparing to celebrate his girl friend Cassie's birthday.
He was preceded by his paternal grandparents, Tom and Edna "Lou" Nemsky; and his maternal grandfather, Shirley Sykes.
He will be dearly missed by his parents, Fritz and Karen, nee Sykes, Nemsky; a brother, Brian Nemsky of Granite City; maternal grandmother, Kathryn Sykes of Granite City; girl friend, Cassie Lofink of Granite City; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Stephen Nemsky Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home or Granite City Credit Union.
Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: A celebration of Stephen's life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial will at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Ill.
