Obituary Condolences

ALTON -- A man accused earlier this year of threatening the life of Sen. William Haine, D-Alton, has died after a 10-month battle with brain cancer.
Steven Rain, 55, of Alton died on Friday at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was released from the Madison County Jail in August after spending nearly a month there, facing a charge of threatening a public officials. His bail had been set at $100,000, but a judge ordered that Rain be released because of his medical condition.
Rain's doctor had submitted a letter to the court, stating he would die without chemotherapy to treat a malignant brain tumor.
Police had said Rain made an indirect threat against Haine's life.
