Valerie Evenden, 89, of Granite City, Ill., born Oct. 19, 1926, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016, at Fountain View Manor in Granite City.
Valerie gave over 34 years at the Press Record retiring as an assistant director. She was a member of the B.P.W. in Granite City and Bubble Masters Scuba Diving Club. She loved to take trips to the Lake of the Ozarks and was well known for the love of her dogs. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Evenden; and her parents, Samuel and Florence, nee Fletcher, Lewis.
She is survived by and will be missed by her son, John and (Linda) Evenden of Granite City; her grandchildren, Kimberly Allen of Granite City, Jason and (Telecia) Evenden of Nixa, Mo.; her great-grandchildren, Tyndel Evenden and Gunnar Evenden both of Nixa, Mo.; and her brother, Derek Lewis of England.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Granite City A.P.A.
Visitation: In celebration of her life, friends may visit from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Clint Wisdom officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Ill.
