Vera Heinley

Vera Janice "Jan" Heinley, 83, entered into eternal peace Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, at the Miller Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Kankakee, Ill.

Jan was born on Dec. 28, 1932 in Eldorado, Ark., daughter of the late Joseph A and Dessie M. Sanders. In August, 1951, she married her high school sweetheart the late Wendal E. Heinley, at Cullendale Baptist Church, Camden, Arkansas. Together they traveled the world for 52 years and worked lifelong in the Air Force and Civil Service, retiring as Human Resource Program Manager, HQ AMC/A7S, Scott AFB, Ill.

Jan was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others.

She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her brother, Ray Sanders (Bernice) of Seattle, Wash.; brother-in-law, Norwood Heinley of Richardson, Texas; sister-in-law Nita Jester of Rowlett, Texas; children, Wendy Meyer (Mel) of Peotone, Ill., Joseph Heinley (Lynane) of Mohave Valley, Ariz., and Nancy and Larry Petta of Gustine, Texas; as well as three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Services: A graveside service will be held at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2016 at Jefferson Barracks Veterans Cemetery Missouri.
