Vernon F. Hesse, 96, of Belleville, Ill., born June 16, 1919 in O'Fallon, Ill., passed away Friday, April, 8, 2016 at home.
Vernon proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and was a member of the St. Luke Catholic Church family, in Belleville; having worked there for over 25 years. He also worked for Sachs Electric for 30 years. He loved working out in the yard and doing word searches. He was a loving, father, grandfather, and brother, who will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris C., nee Truttmann, Hesse; and his parents, William and Lidia, nee Meckfessel, Hesse.
Surviving are his two children, Sandra S. Woods and Robert L. (Susan) Hesse, Sr. , both of Belleville, Ill.; his grandchildren, Robert L. Hesse, Jr., Christopher (Elizabeth) Thompson, and Stephen Thompson; great grandchildren, Cameron, Kayleigh, and one on the way; his sister, Wilma Holliday; a sister-in-law, Helen Stuck; his neighbor, Fred Hayes; dear friend, Verne Christ; and many other relatives, friends, and church family.

Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the funeral home with Monsignor Jim Margason officiating. Interment will be held privately in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
