Violet R. Holder, 83, of Granite City, Ill., born Oct. 14, 1932, in Madison, Ill., died Friday, June 3, 2016, in Granite City, Ill.
Violet worked at Glik's Department Store for 25 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the church choir. She was also a member of the Chouteau Township Senior Circle and loved to line dance.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Joseph and Ruth, nee Olsson, Noud; seven brothers; and a sister.
Surviving are her children, Wallace M. (Rebecca) Holder of Machesney Park, Ill., Lawrence J. (Cathy) Holder of Columbia, Mo., Susan (Paul) Fletcher of Evansville, Ind., David P. Holder, and Dana J. Holder; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her brother, George (Anne) Noud of Bloomington, Ill.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home in Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City, Ill., with Father Chris Comerford officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Edwardsville, Ill.
