Virgil P. Neff, 76, of Waterloo, Ill., born Jan. 19, 1940, in Paderborn, Ill., died Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Neff worked for Weyerhaeuser Paper Company, Belleville, Ill., Baxmeyer Excavating Co., Waterloo, Ill., and later operated his own excavating company for 30 years. Virgil also farmed in the Paderborn area. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Paderborn, Ill.
Virgil was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Mary Ann, nee Weber, Neff, whom he married on Nov. 11, 1966, and who died on Dec. 4, 2008; a son, Brian Neff; his parents, Christian and Mary Jane, nee Musbacher, Neff; three sisters, Rose Marie (Daniel) Mueth, Luella May Neff, and Margaret, in infancy; and a brother, Robert Neff.
Surviving are a son, Kein Neff of Newburgh, Ind.; three grandchildren, Allan (Tia, nee Broadway) Neff and Roger Neff of Hecker, Ill., and Cassidy Neff of New Athens, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, Aubriee and Bryson Broadway; a brother, Joseph (Doris) Neff of Smithton, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., for an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Paderborn, Ill., with Msgr. Carl Scherrer and Father Stanley Konieczny concelebrating. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery, Paderborn, Ill.
